Handcrafted jewels: a stellar inspiration for the new Sidereum collection by Luca Daverio
I handmade jewelry they are the expression of creativity, the one that comes to life from a sketchy idea or from a source of great inspiration. So it was for the new collection Sidereum, created and created by the designer Luca Daverio starting from a strong suggestion, which has to do with the origin of the universe.
A collection that comes from the stars
"For the new “Sidereum” ̶ explains Daverio ̶ I was inspired by universal events and the Big Bang theory, which hypothesizes that the universe originated from a single point, an almost inconceivable and inspiring concept.” The designer has a long history behind him family tradition in the creation of handcrafted jewels and has already given life over the years to jewels that offer particular shapes, such as i ricci and spirals of the homonymous collections and the embraces of For Ever Hug Me, expert workmanship such as the chiselling of Heritage, unique pieces of high jewelery like those in the collection Masterpieces.
For Sidereum, the starting idea is a concept that is difficult for the human mind to understand, but very suggestive: that of a single generating point, a singular concentration of energy which, by expanding, gave life to the entire universe. The name of the collection comes from the Latin adjective "sidereus", which means "stellar, belonging to the stars": a term that evokes those stars to which man has always looked with wonder and which for centuries have been the guide of travelers and a source of inspiration for those who, from their observation, believe they can know the future.
Handcrafted jewels in gold, titanium and diamonds and a tribute to Fontana
The icon of the collection is inspired by the stars: a necklace made up of a multitude of stars that culminate in a central titanium disc, where a fissure stands out, an artistic heritage that recalls the famous "cuts" of Lucio Fontana. “Through this crack ̶ explains Luca Daverio again ̶ you will be able to see the chthonic world, that world to be discovered and brought to light, transforming it into new beauty.” The journey of Sidereum therefore starts from the origins of universal time and space to arrive at the terrestrial and underground world, all to be investigated and appreciated.
One of the characteristic elements of the collection is the use of titanium, a material with peculiar characteristics and which, even in the name, is linked to the inspiration of the collection: in Greek mythology, in fact, the Titans were the primordial forces of the universe. Titanium is a stronger material than steel, but much lighter, suitable for contemporary creations, but also difficult to work with, making it difficult to find handmade jewelry made of titanium.
The Sidereum collection consists of necklaces, rings, pendants, bracelets, earrings in gold, titanium and diamonds, handmade by Luca Daverio.
A star as a gift
A gift accompanies Sidereum jewels: with each one it comes given a star, with a certificate showing the star's coordinates and the date registered in the International Space Registry. The name of the star will be that of the jewel chosen with the addition of the name of the person who buys it or of the person for whom it is intended. A customization that recalls the origin of the collection and adds a further element of originality to these new jewels.
Sidereum premiered at the Rome Film Fest
The new collection was presented in absolute preview last October on the occasion of the award Women in Cinema Award, awarded during the Rome Film Fest. The ambassador for Daverio1933 was Claudia Conte, actress, cultural entrepreneur and human rights activist, who presented the event wearing a Sidereum necklace, ring and earrings. The event, which took place at the Roman Aquarium and was dedicated to Iranian women and their protests against the regime in Tehran, awarded the actresses Maria Pia Ammirati, Chiara Francini and Lunetta Savino, the director Giuseppe Piccioni, the singer Arisa and the journalist Miriam Mauti, with a special recognition to the singer Elodie for her film debut.
After the debut on the stage of the Roman event, starting from December the Sidereum collection will be available for everyone in the Daverio1933 showroom and on the online shop.
